  1. 1.  John Livermore was born about 1604 in Oath Of Ipswich, Suffolk, England; was christened on 30 Sep 1604 in Little Thurlow, Suffolk, England; died on 4 Apr 1684 in Watertown, MA; was buried in The Old Burying Place, Watertown, MA.

    Notes:

    John Livermore (Lyvermore) came to America in April 1634 at the age of 28. He embarked on the ship, Francis at Ipswich, England. He was admitted as a Freeman on 6 May 1635. His name was spelled as Leathermore on the list. He removed to
    Wethersfield in 1635. He was one of the original settlers of Quinnipiac, New Haven on 4 Jun 1639. He signed the fundamental agreement of the New Haven Colony in 1639.



    On 7 May 1650, John Livermore sold his estate and left New Haven for Watertown. In 1655, he was fined iis (2 shillings) for owning two disorderly hogs.



    John Livermore's will was proved 16 Jun 1684, dividing his estate among his survivors. His wife, Grace, was named executrix of his will.



    John Livermore's grave is in "The Old Burying Place" in Watertown, MA, 75 feet from the entrance behingd the tall monument. John is separated from the rest of the Livermores.

    (Research):Further research is needed, but it does appear that John Lyvermore was a passenger on the Francis which sailed from Ipswich 30 April 1634 and landed at either Plymouth or Boston, MA. Her Captain was Mr. John Cutting. Ref: Public Records

    John married Grace Sherman about 1633 in England.     John was made a freeman April 18, 1690. He lived on the Cowper farm (mentioned in the inventory of his father's estate) in that part of Watertown called Watertown Farms, now Weston, and near the Sudbury line. The Cowpen farm was bounded N. by
    land of Robert Jennison and John Sawin; W. by that of Robert Jennison; E. by that of R. Jennison and Nathaniel Greene (son and heir of Rev. Henry Greene); S. by that of Capt. Hugh Mason. The twenty acres of meadow belonging to it were near
    Nonesuch Meadow.



    He was a tythingman in 1679; he was a selectman of Watertown in 1692 and collector of rates in 1692 and 1693; assessor in 1695. Oct. 22, 1695, John Grout, Sr., of Sudbury, conveyed to his son-in-law, John Livermore of Watertown Farms, a tract
    of land situated between Dedham line, Watertown line and Sudbury line, adjoining partly 200 acres granted by the General Court to William Jennison of Watertown, bounded S. by Dedham line; N. by Sudbury line; E. by Watertown line; W. by the 200
    acres above mentioned, now (1860) in the possossion of Matthew Rice. Nov. 21, 1712, John Livermore conveyed this tract of land to his four daughters, Hannah Rice, Sarah Fulham, Martha Gleason and Mary Bigelow.



    He was a soldier in the Mt. Hope campaign in King Phillip's war, for which service he was paid L2.08.06 on Aug 27, 1675. He was called a lieutenant and also ensign. His will, dated Oct. 20, 1714, proved Feb. 25, 1719.
