    Lewis was the son of John and Mary Rawson Wheeler Putnam, born in New England Village, Grafton, Worcester County, Mass. His father, John, was the old miller of New England Village.

    Lewis was in the tailoring business in Westborough, Worcester and Boston.

    He married his first wife, Puah Bullard Mellen of Holliston, Middlesex County, Mass., and they had three children: Jane Mellen, b. 1832, Mary Mellen b. 1834 and Albert Lewis Putnam b. 1838, the third child and only son died in 1841 (same year as his mother - childbirth?).

    Lewis was married for the second time on 20 April 1844 to Elmira Parker of Southborough, daughter of William (Find-A-Grave Memorial #153114540 at Southborough Rural Cemetery, Worcester County, Mass.) & Sally Bellows Parker, and they had two children: Franklin Lewis b. 1845 and Henry Albert Putnam b. 1849.

    Lewis married Elmira Parker on 20 Apr 1844.     HOPKINS, Mary (Putnam) Age 96, of Hingham, Jan. 3rd.

    Wife of the late John R. Hopkins, M D. Mother of John P. Hopkins of Goshen, NH, Robert P. Hopkins, M D. of Lincoln, MA, and Luclnda H. Lee of Chestnut Hill. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

    A Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 7th at 2:30 P.M. at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. Rather than flowers, donations in her memory would be preferred to the Hingnam Historical Society, PO Box 434, Hingham, MA 02043 or to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02172.
