    Deacon Isarel Root, aged 80 years, 3 months and 18 days died at his residence in the town of Reedsburg, Sunday morning, April 10, 1881.

    Deacon Isarel Root was born in the town of Greenbush, Rensselaer county, N. Y., December 22, 1800; moved to Dodge County, this state in the year 1842, and from there to Reedsburg, in 1856, where he resided up to the time of his death. June 27, 1822, he was married to Sarah C. Aldrich, who died January 19, 1857; on the 8th of October, 1857 he married Electa Ransom, who still survives him. Mr. Root was the father of thirteen children, ten sons and three daughters, seven of whom are still living, six of the former and one of the latter. The funeral took place on Monday last, Rev. E. Godwin officiating. That Mr. Root was held in high regard by the people of Reedsburg, the large attendance at his funeral fully attest.

She moved to Los Angeles in 1921 to be a concert and opera voice coach. She also organized the Columbia Opera Company and also served for eight years as a concert voice coach.

    Former Chemistry Professor
    At VU Dies Thursday

    Dr. Harry Victor Fuller, 67, retired Valparaiso university chemistry professor, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday in Porter Memorial hospital, where he has been a patient for five weeks. He had been in ill health for more than a year.

    The decedent was born in Spring Valley, Minn., Oct. 23, 1880, the son of John E. Fuller and Nettie Fuller. His father died when he was young. His mother as Nettie Snyder was a voice teacher, well known in the United States and Italy. As a child he attended school in Italy and Switzerland. He later was graduated from the Sioux Fall, S.D. high school and attended the University of Minnesota. He received his degree of Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1912.

    He was assistant to the great American analytical chemist, Treadwell, in Zurich. While there he attended lectures under three men who became Nobel prize winners. He became professor of chemistry at Peiyang university, Tientsien, China, established by Boxer Rebellion funds returned to the Chinese by the American government. He was also head chemist to the Mint of China and head chemist to the Port of Tientsien. He was also active on the American newspaper in Tientsien.

    In 1927, after 16 years in China, he returned to the United States and became professor of chemistry in Valparaiso university. He relinquished this position in 1932. He was also active in several chemical enterprises. In 1937 he engaged in conjunction with Mrs. B. Russell in the operation of a turkey farm east of Valparaiso. During the war he was employed as a chemist in the National Tube company, Gary.

    Dr. Fuller was an excellent linquist, talking and writing excellent German and French. He also could speak Italian, some Russian and Chinese.

    He developed a process for drying eggs in China similar to the present spray process. He also developed other chemical industries in China.

    Dr. Fuller was well traveled, having been half-way around the world each way twice. In his travels he met many interesting personages, including Haile Selassie, the present emporer of Ethiopia. His wife, Lucien, died in Paris in 1934.

    Dr. Fuller was a veteran of the Spanish-American War, and was a member of the United Spanish-American War Veterans' post of Porter county. He was also a member of the American Chemical society for many years.

    As a teacher he will be remembered by many students whom he taught at Valparaiso university as well as elsewhere as a friend and for his quaint humor.

    He leaves no near relatives. Since 1935 he has made his home with the Dr. Walter E. Thrun family.

    Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bartholomew funeral home, 102 Monroe street with the Masonic lodge in charge of the rites. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

    Hold Final Rites Sunday For Dr. Harry V. Fuller

    Final rites for Dr. Harry Victor Fuller, former Valparaiso university chemistry professor, who died Thursday night in Porter Memorial hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bartholomew funeral home on Monroe street.

    The Masonic lodge, of which he was a member, had charge of the services at the funeral home as well as committal services at the grave in Graceland cemetery. Miss Mae Brown, played several organ numbers.

    Representing Valparaiso university at the services were Dr. Walter Fredrich, Dr. Alfred Meyer and Dr. Walter E. Thrun.

    Pallbearers were members of the Porter Lodge, No. 137, Free and Accepted Masons.
