William Chase was born by about 1595 based on estimated date of marriage. He was a housewright who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1630. First settled in Roxbury; moved to Yarmouth in 1638. Died in Yarmouth MA between 4 May 1659 (date of will) and 13 May 1659 (probate of will).

Married by about 1620 Mary _____; she was admitted to Roxbury church as member #29:

"Mary Chase, the wife of William Chase. She had a paralytic humor which fell into her backbone, so that she could not stir her body, but as she was lifted, and filled her with great torture, & caused her backbone to go out of joint, & bunch out from the beginning to the end of which infirmity she lay 4 years & a half, & a great part of the time a sad spectacle of misery. But it pleased God to raise her again, & she bore children after it."

In October 1659 a coroner's jury "having made search and inquiry, according to our best light and understanding, into the cause of the death of Mary Chase, viz: of our town of Yarmouth, do with joint consent present, the day and year abovesaid, that we can find no other but that she died a natural death through inward sickness, as is evident to all men naturally."

They had 3 children: William, Mary, & Benjamin.

William Chase was born in Norfolk England. His father was William Chase Sr. and his mother was Mary Townley. William had four siblings. His father immigrated to America in 1630 settling in Plymouth Mass. They sailed with the Winthrop Fleet. William sailed with his parents to Massacheutts he was only nine years old.

William served in the early military in Plymouth Colony. He was a drummer. He received extra pay for his service as a drummer. Once he found himself in trouble in Plymouth and was sentenced to stay in the stocks for one day while the other soldiers practiced.

Some say the William was married four times and had a child by each wife. Records can only identify one wife Elizabeth Holder. Records indicate that Elizabeth was William's second wife. Elizabeth's parents were Pilgrims from England she was born in Plymouth colony. Elizabeth and William had four children and a set of twins.

After leaving Plymouth they settled in what is now Cape Cod Mass.

Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700, Vol 1 p 302, Benjamin married Philippe in 1672 in Portsmouth, Newport, RI.

Benjamin died between September 6 1730 and July 20 1731.
