    Austrian born comedian, actor and musician. A skilled violinist, he appeared in many film, stage and TV roles including appearances in "Hi Gang!" (1941), "I'll Be Your Sweetheart" (1945) and the TV series ""Hotel Imperial" (1958). As a musician he made many TV and stage performances and was famed for playing the violin (purposely) badly. His theme tune was "Prelude to the Stars." Oliver was also the first "castaway" on Desert Island Discs, the long running BBC Radio 4 program. He was married to Winston Churchill's daughter Sarah, until their divorce in 1945. Following his cremation at Golders Green, Vic Oliver's ashes were scattered in Section 4-H of the Lawns of Remembrance.
