Elbia C. Hargis
Elbia C. Hargis, 72, of Kirkland, formerly of Plattville, Ill., died Sunday, April 8, 1990, at home.
He was born March 10, 1918, in Paris, Ill., the son of Joseph and Bonnie (Goucher) Hargis. He married Maried Maxine Mercer Aug. 28, 1949, in Marshall, Ill.
He worked as a crane operator at Caterpillar. He was a member of the Platville United Methodist Church and the Caterpillar Retirees Club. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Larry (Ina) Hargis of Plattville and Elbia Hargis, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oakla.; four daughters, Linda (Dewey) Blocker of Erick, Oakla., Helen (Bruce) Johnson of Morris, Ill., Gladys (Jerry) Hall of Kirkland, and Nancy (Keith) Hall of Kingston; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred (Mary) Hargis of Camdenton, Mo., Joseph (Edith) Hargis of Morris, and Robert (Irma) Hargis of Marshall, Ill.; one sister, Juanita (Maurice) Werns of West Union, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday at the Plattville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wendy Witt-Peluso officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Joliet.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p. m. today at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, Yorkville.
Elbia married Marie Maxine Mercer on 28 Aug 1949 in Marshall, Clark County, Illinois. Marie was born on 5 Jul 1920; died on 12 Jul 1981; was buried after 12 Jul 1981 in Woodlawn Memorial Park I, Joliet, Will County, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
