He resided in Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 27, 1941, prior to the war, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Manager and also as Single, without dependents.

Leigh died in the "Line Of Duty" when his P-38 had a structural failure and crashed 6 miles east of Xenia, Ohio during the war.
