Obituary:
Dorothy Louise (Hall) Hendrickson, formerly of Helena, died of complications of Parkinson's disease in Mercer Island, Wash. on Feb. 6, 2006. She was born in Roswell, N.M. on Sept. 24, 1919, to Thomas Jeffrey Hickman and Arabella Colvin Hickman.
She moved at an early age with her family to the Fall City-Issaquah, Wash., area and graduated in 1939 from the Issaquah High School. During her high school years, Dorothy spent time in Alaska working in the fish canneries.
In 1940 she married Harvey F. Hall. They had four children and lived in Washington and California before they were divorced in 1953. Following her divorce, Dorothy loaded up a U-Haul trailer, hitched it to a '49 Chevrolet and moved herself and her children to Jefferson City, Mont., where they lived with Dorothy's sister Katherine Stahl before moving to Helena one year later.
While in Helena, Dorothy worked at the 4-B's restaurant that was located on Main Street and for Buttrey Foods, but mostly she spent her time raising her family and filling her home with joy and love.
After the graduation of all her children from high school, Dorothy moved back to the Seattle area. There she met and married Michael R. Hendrickson in 1970. Mike's career as a flight engineer for several commercial airlines and Boeing took them to Germany and the Dominican Republic as well as the Seattle area.
After Mike's retirement, Dorothy and Mike made many trips around the country in their RV doing research on family history and ancestors. Dorothy's passion was genealogy and Mike gladly helped her with this.
Dorothy was known for her strength and determination but she will also be remembered for her love, generosity, warmth and enthusiasm for life. Her children were blessed to be raised in a home that was filled with joy, happiness, laughter and love that knew no bounds. They have a heritage they can pass to their children because of the wonderful life Dorothy gave to them. And Dorothy was very special to those grandchildren; they loved her dearly and enjoyed so much the time spent with Grandma Dorothy. A hug and a kiss from Grandma is a treasure to be remembered always. All her family looks forward to the day when we will meet her again in the home Jesus has prepared for us.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son William P Hall; brothers Thomas and William Hickman; sisters Margaret Mayes, Katherine Stahl, Betty Drake. She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters Morreen (N. Michael) Hansen of Mercer Island, Wash., and Norma (George) Perrins of Kent, Wash.; son Michael (Diana) Hall of Helena; sister Ardena Thornton in Oregon; stepsons Michael Hendrickson III and Lesley Hendrickson. In addition there are all those wonderful grandchildren: Corena Frederick, Lynnette Radonich, Angie Sabol, Jordan Hall, Howard Schmith all of Helena; Mike Hansen, Jan Penny in Washington; Lydia Davis and Stephen Hall in California. To help carry on the rich heritage Dorothy leaves, there are numerable great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
