    From FindaGrave:

EAST FALMOUTH —  Fred Phillips Wormelle of East Falmouth died on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was born on November 10, 1943, in Brockton, MA. He was the son of the late Frederick W. Wormelle, Jr. and Beatrice Hall Phillips Wormelle.

Mr. Wormelle grew up in Falmouth and attended Falmouth schools. He graduated Lawrence High School in 1961. He played football and was "All-Cape" in 1960 for his position as left guard. He attended Wentworth Institute, Boston, and received his Associates Degree in Engineering in 1963. He then went on to earn his Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from Northeastern University, Boston, in 1966.

In the years that he was in school and immediately after, he worked for F.C. Phillips, Inc., Stoughton, founded by his maternal grandfather, as well as Cornell Dubilier, New Bedford, and Bliss Gamewell, Co. in Newton.

Mr. Wormelle's family built the Flying Bridge Restaurant, Falmouth, in 1958 and Phil worked managing the restaurant for 19 years before acquiring it in 1982 and selling it in 1984. He also managed Falmouth Marine Railways from 1976 to 1979. In 1981, he purchased East Marine, Inc., on Falmouth Harbor, which he ran until his retirement in 2003. During the boatyard's off-season, Mr. Wormelle operated a marine construction business building pile and timber piers, and bulkheads. He also established Falmouth Payroll Systems in 1977 and sold the company in 1982. Mr. Wormelle was the majority stockholder and partner in the Charlmont Restaurant in Morrisville, Vt. from 1971 to 2000.

Phil will always be remembered by his family and friends as a determined and tireless worker. He was a quiet and generous man, a true gentleman.

Mr. Wormelle leaves his beloved wife, Maureen Twohig Wormelle. He had two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanne and Jeff Sewall of Sarasota, Fla., Gail and Ed Nacios of Chapel Hill, N.C., and a brother, James Lawley Wormelle of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In addition, he leaves his son, William of Falmouth and two daughters, Kristin Caney of Washington State and Leigh Twohig Wormelle of Falmouth and Boston. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Phil is also remembered by his extended Twohig family, Patrick and Carolyn Twohig and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Giuggio, Joan Cutrona and Eileen Twohig.

He was a member of the Marine Lodge, Falmouth, and the Falmouth Yacht Club.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at noon in the First Congregational Church, Main St., Falmouth. The burial is Private. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 26th in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., FALMOUTH CENTER.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Falmouth Sea Scouts. "If you launch your bark upon the ever-agitated but healthful waters of truth, you will encounter storms. Your good will be evil spoken of. This is the cross. Take it up and bear it, for through it you win and wear the crown. Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God".
