Yesterday morning occurred the death of Mr. Nathan Swain at his home, 527 Twentieth street, after a long illness with bowel trouble. He had lived in Rock Island for seventeen years, coming here from Kentucky, his birthplace. Three years ago he removed to Minneapolis, but returned to this city in the spring of 1888. His wife survives with the following children: T. N. Swain, of Davenport; Mrs. S. E. Paul and Miss Eva U. Swain, of Woodbury, N. J., and Mrs. C. N. Hall, Mrs. J. C. Graham and L. S., of Minneapolis, and Miss N. D. and Elvin B. Swain, of Rock Island.

Mr. Swain served his country bravely in its hour of peril, devoting three years of his life to the service during the war and he was a much esteemed member of Buford post. He was industrious and honest and many will mourn his loss.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 Sunday morning.
