- Uxbridge- Doris H. (Hall) Temple, 94, of Uxbridge passed away Sun. July 12, 2015 in Auburn, MA. She was the wife of the late Ernest P. Temple. Doris was a teacher in the Burlington Public Schools beginning in the fall of 1961, retiring in 1985. She was born August 23, 1920 in Worcester, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Mildred H. (Chapman) Hall. She graduated from Uxbridge High in 1938 where she was class Valedictorian and Editor-in-Chief of The Spotlight. She received an Associate's degree from Boston University School of Practical Arts & Letters in 1940 and a Bachelor's Degree from Framingham State College in 1961.
A longtime resident of Uxbridge, she also lived in Concord, Burlington and Sutton. Doris loved time spent with family and enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, sunbathing, swimming, water and snow skiing, fishing, volunteering at the Sutton Senior Center, music, exercise and her beloved Boston Red Sox. She was an adventurer alongside her beloved husband, Ernie. They visited all 50 states and even learned how to scuba dive in Hawaii on their camping trip there in 1991. They loved to sail, chartering a boat in 1986 with friends to the Sea of Cortez. Together with their children they renovated and lived in several homes over the years. She is survived by her 8 children, Roy and his wife Janet of New Britain, CT, Carol and her husband Richard Hildreth of Holliston, Nancy and her husband Elliott Simons of Southborough, Kenneth and his wife Cheryl of Douglas, Russell and his wife Audrey of Townsend, Arthur of Whitehall, NY, Donald and his wife Kathryn of Canterbury, NH, and Gail and her husband Michael Benedict of Uxbridge, 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, nieces Susan W. Premo, Janie W. Larson, Wendy W. Bowen and Miriam R. Mongeau, nephew David H. White and all their wonderful families. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth H Orr and her grandson Donald L. Temple II.
