  Father was Michael Powers (1797-1895) (FGID=23798467) Michael Powers, who died July 28, in Lohrville, Io., was born in Ireland in 1794 and had been a hard worker all his life. He came to America in 1848,living for a time in Canada, then in Vermont, New York, Pennslyvania, and Illinois, finally moving to Allamakee county, Iowa, and in 1875 moved to Calhoun county, where he lived on a farm recently. It is said he remembered well hearing the news of the battle of Waterloo and other important political events early in the century.
