    • Father was Michael Powers (1797-1895) (FGID=23798467)

      Michael Powers, who died July 28, in Lohrville, Io., was born in Ireland in 1794 and had been a hard worker all his life. He came to America in 1848,living for a time in Canada, then in Vermont, New York, Pennslyvania, and Illinois, finally moving to Allamakee county, Iowa, and in 1875 moved to Calhoun county, where he lived on a farm recently. It is said he remembered well hearing the news of the battle of Waterloo and other important political events early in the century. His wife, whom he married in 1827, survives him as well as several children.
