  • Notes
    • It seems strange to me that both Joseph and his wife Persis have the same birthday.  The information I received came from a Gene Carpenter, a distant relative in the Carpenter line.  He may have made a mistake in his transposition of this
information and, in fact, all of the information that he wrote for Persis may well be for Joseph, her husband (i.e. birth and death).  I will need to look into this further:  Joseph S. Hall, Jr.

Joseph Carpenter and his wife, Persis Rawson, removed from Providence, Rhode Island to Uxbridge, Massachusetts in 1772.

The epitaph on Joseph Carpenter's gravestone reads:  "Farewell my friends and childen dear, I've left this world of pain, May virtue be your preactice here, Til we do meet again."
