"On 12 Dec. 1733, David Hills, guardian to Ebenezer Keney (aged 15), son of Ebenezer Keney, deceased, asked to be released, and the said minor chose his father-in-law, William Haile of Glastonbury (alias Hall) for guardian. On 14 June 1731, Abraham Coult, Sr., of Glastonbury, conveyed 27 acres for love and affection to "my son and daughter," William Hale and his wife Mary, mentioning his grandson Ebenezer Keeney and the heirs of his son Abram. Coult, deceased. William Hale Jr. of Enfield sold about 28 acres to Nehemiah Strickland of Glastonbury, 8 Feb. 1745/6. (Manwaring's "Digest", 3:75; Glastonbury Deeds, 4:77; 5:438)
On 26 Apr. 1759, WILLM. Hale, Hannah Hale, and Mary Hale, of Enfield, and Abraham Hale, of Derby, Conn., conveyed to Jonathan Hale of Enfield.(Enfield Deeds, 3:236)
Children of William and Mary (Colt) (Keeney) Hale, the first three recorded at Enfield, the last two at Glastonbury:
i. WILLIAM-4, b. 5 May 1724; d. at Tyringham, Mass., 31 Aug. 1807; m. Hannah Brewer, b. 4 Apr. 1729, d. 10 Nov. 1817. WILLIAM Hale settled in Tyringham as early as 1747; assisted in the building of Fort Massachusetts in Adams, and had been stationed in Stockbridge. He was back in Enfield, 1756-58, but returned to Tyringham, and was made deacon of the church there in 1764.
On 5 Jan. 1760, WILLIAM Hale and wife Hannah, John Chadwick and wife Abigail, Isaac Gearfield and wife Mary, Jonas Brewer and David Brewer, all of township No. 1 adjacent to Sheffield, Mass., sold to Jacob Brown.
On 9 Feb. 1780, WILLIAM Hale of Tyringham sold land in New Marlboro, Mass., to Nathaniel Hale; witnesses, William Hale, Jr., Josiah Hale. (Berkshire County Deeds, Pittsfield, 2:71; 19:308.)
Distribution of the estate of Deacon WILLIAM Hale of Tyringham was made, 13 June 1808, to the widow Hannah; daus. Abigail Hale, Sally wife of John Joslin, Hannah wife of Zebadiah Joslin, and Polly wife of James Sweet; sons William, Josiah, Nathaniel, Gideon and Salathiel Hale; and the children of John Hale (Anna DeWolf, Abigail Abbott, and John, William, Polly, Hannah, Eli, Candace and Lucinda Hale).(Berkshire County Probate, File 2516.) Children, recorded at Tyringham."
